The Media and Social Innovation Lab is a unique event that will be held in the framework of ARGO’s “Partnership for Innovations – P4I” program and Internews’s “Access to Information” program, with the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Innovation for Change.
This year the event will be held for the first time in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on May 21-23, 2017 and bring together about 80 experts, representatives of media, CSOs and IT specialists from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Organizers of the event: Internews Network in Central Asia, Civil Society Development Association «ARGO» (Kazakhstan), the Media Academy of Tajikistan, International Public Organization “Fidokor”.
Activity of the Lab activity will be split into 2 parallel blocks:
- ARGO Lab is a platform for studying and disseminating innovative methodologies, instruments and approaches that allow achieving a significant social effect in CSO activities. The Lab participants will gain knowledge and skills in developing innovation projects, discuss social innovation best practices, and will be consulted by experts on the implementation of their project ideas.
- Internews Lab is a social project intended to bring together people of different backgrounds (media professionals, IT specialists, civil society leaders and government officials) to elaborate jointly an Internet solution to address critical social problems and needs in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
During the work of the Media and Social Innovation Lab the participants will be trained in covering social problems in a new fashion, getting the public to participate in tackling social problems, and developing modern social initiatives. Innovative ideas elaborated within the Lab will take part in a competition and the best ideas will obtain financial support.
