Youth of Azerbaijan have received new opportunities for development. Ilkham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, recently approved the state program “Azerbaijan Youth in 2017-2021.” The head of the country will personally oversee the program’s implementation progress.
The crucial document covers a wide range of issues aimed at developing the country’s young generation, including creating conditions for youth development, strengthening youth’s patriotic education, increasing social protection levels of young scientists and specialists, and supporting young businesspeople, among many other initiatives.
In Azerbaijan, youth make up the majority of the population, and therefore, the country’s leaders are making a special effort to develop youth’s leadership skills. The country’s youth policy has become an important component of the state policy. It is very important that not only government structures, but also youth themselves are engaged in implementing youth policy. Today young people work in government agencies, the parliament, municipal administrations, business and other areas, making a significant contribution to community development. An important aspect is that local youth organizations have also joined leading international organizations.
The state program will become a new stage for Azeri youth development. Adoption of this document immediately after a new petroleum contract has been signed is very symbolic, because both documents are aimed at the future development of Azerbaijan,” noted Azerbaijan’s deputy minister of youth and sports, Intigam Babayev.
Of significant note, this is already the third state youth development program. The previous ones were implemented from 2005-2009 and from 2011-2015. Thanks to these previous programs, young people were provided with great growth opportunities.
This Directive reflects our state’s hope for our youth and increases its responsibility,” noted Yusif Mammadaliyev, chief of the department of youth policy and sports affairs under Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration.
The state program has been prepared in line with current trends and reflects youth’s ambition for becoming a part of the contemporary world, building upon national roots.
The new program encourages youth to learn modern and relevant technology, provides for supporting startups, and strengthens international relations.
